Guillermo Calderón is a Chilean playwright, screenwriter and and director based in the USA. The world premiere of his play B, an exploration of revolutionary violence over several generations, will run at The Royal Court from September 28 - October 21. Kiss, a breakdown of the Syrian war through the lens of a soap opera, will be published in American Theatre Magazine this fall. It has received several productions in North America, including regional premieres at Woolly Mammoth, the Canadian Stage Company, and Odyssey Theatre. It will run at Yale Rep in Spring 2018.
Also notable for Guillermo was the world premiere of Gold Rush, a modern deconstruction of the California gold rush and immigration, at Theater Basel in Switzerland. His hit play Villa also received its New York premiere this past year at Play Co., lauded as "stirring and mournful" (NY Times, a kind of "a bolder No Exit and an anguished scream" (Time Out NY).
